The year 2008 is coming to an end and it saw a number of newsworthy events in the chess world. One of the most meaningful to chess fans and historians here in the United States was the passing of Bobby Fisher in January. The New York Times has published a wonderful article about a young Bobby Fischer (13) and a match with Donald Byrne. The article reminds you not only what a chess genious Fischer was, but that he was also just a child. A child that had no idea what life was about to bring his way… nor how to handle it.
