Newark Chess Club issues challenge

The Newark Chess Club team “The Newark Knights” would like to challenge any othe team with at least four players, and up to ten players. We have ten players ranging from 2100 thru 700 rating. We would like to challenge any team, college, high school, or work teams are welcome, so that we may continue our success towards starting a league. So far we have three other teams who play regularly with us. We have found friendship and comaraderie in these events and a renewed excitment. We are going to win that Blue Hen trophy someday! We have played a home and home series’ and traveled up to 75 minutes away and out of state. We like to meet on Thursday nights. The ultimate goal is to get a league started and a season under way next year. Contact Rick at BishopRick@comcast.net

Kramnik Retains Title

Vladimir Kramnik needed a win in game 14 with the white pieces to retain his Classical World Championship title over Peter Leko. He pulled it off in brilliant fashion and will now play the winner of the upcoming Kasparov/Kasimdzhanov match for the unified championship.
